Hunting has always been a way of life for many families across the World. In Minnesota over 500,000 whitetail tags are purchased each year across Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources estimates around 150,000 whitetail deer are going to be harvested out of the projected 1 million whitetail deer that live in Minnesota in 2017. Andrew Peters had 1 of the 500,000 whitetail tags that were purchased, until October 31st.

On October 31st, Andrew Peters was sitting in the woods hunting for whitetail deer. “The wind was blowing in my face making my eyes water,” Peters said, adding, “I climbed down from my stand and I sat next to a tree in a ravine. I started to fall asleep, when all of a sudden I heard a stick break!” Andrew then grunted at the deer two times with his call. “I looked to my left and saw what I thought was a doe. It started walking towards me and I noticed it was a buck! I started to draw back and when I was about three-fourths of the way drawn back the buck looked at me! I knew I had little time to let the arrow fly.” The deer stood 12 yards away looking at Andrew when all of a sudden Andrew “let the arrow fly”. The arrow stuck with a perfect double lunged shot. Andrew was on the blood trail for 60 yards when all of a sudden laying in front of him was his first bow kill.
