New Newspaper

October 5, 2016

For many years now New Ulm High School hasn’t had a newspaper. Have you ever wondered why that is?

New Ulm High School has seen many newspapers in past years. The last one though, was published approximately 3 years ago and was called “Eagle’s Nest.” Eagles Nest was a class that would release about 3 news articles every semester and was originally run by Mr. Torgerson, until Mr. Van Leeuwee took over in 2007. I was unable to gain any information on Eagles Nest due to the original teacher who taught the class no longer working at NUHS, and all the students who worked on it having since graduated.  The longest running school newspaper that I know of was called “The Graphos”. This was last published about 10 years ago, lasting approximately 81 years since it’s first publishing. However, the first 50 years of it was lost, presumably in transit. It would print around 4 editions every year. “The Eagle” is the current newspaper, which is digital, rather than being on paper like the other newspapers we’ve previously had. The class is taught by Mr. Engeldinger, who helped us get the newspaper approved by administration.
