New Ulm Boy’s Soccer

December 20, 2017

New Ulm Boy’s Soccer has just recently wrapped up their season. Although coming as close as you can get to a .500 record (6-7-3), the team doesn’t think they lived up to their full potential this season. After starting the season strong with a 4-0-3 record, the team began to struggle, losing seven of the final nine games.

For an insight on the team, we talked to two senior captains: Wyatt Huard and Matthew Messenger.

We asked both seniors who they thought the biggest contributor(s) to the team were, and they both answered with Wyatt Huard (Forward), and Matthew Janke (Goaltender). Wyatt Huard scored a school record 31 goals this season. Matthew Janke recorded 204 saves, which finished as the fourth most saves in the state.

With 6 seniors leaving this year, both captains believe that there are some younger players that played up on varsity that can lead the team next year.
