National FFA Convention “I CAN WE WILL”
November 14, 2017
A group of 14 New Ulm FFA members went to Indiana for the 90th annual National FFA Convention trip. The group attended many of the convention sessions and listened to guest speakers like Laila Ali. Also, the group went on tours to Fair Oaks Farms, Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre, and an Orchid farm.
The Group first went to Fair Oaks Farms where they saw a cow and swine operation. “It was cool to see the big 70 station rotary milking parlor and how they can milk 7,000 cows” said secretary Claire Bastian. Another highlight of the trip was going to the Conners Prairie Museum where they reenacted life in the 1800s. “One thing we got to do at Conners Prairie was go on a hot air ballon ride and it was really fun because we got to see downtown Indianapolis,” stated president Jacob Radloff.
A Rascal Flatts concert was another event that the group was able to do. The group was also able to go to the National Convention Expo for two days. They walked around and got to talk to many agricultural companies and colleges. Historian Sam Kohn said, “It was cool walking around to companies because some companies had games you could play and they gave out free stuff!”
