New Ulm’s FFA chapter heads to the State Convention every year deep in St. Paul, MN, at the University of Minnesota. Leaving Sunday and coming back Tuesday, that’s a lot of time with your fellow students and advisors.

This whole event consists of “CDE” teams or Career Development Events. These competitions are to show off your skills and learning in a specific event, such as farm business management, crops, milk quality, etc., and sessions of guest speakers and commemorations, and even electing the next year’s Officers.

After it all, and on our final send-off came the highlight of the show: his name was Morris Morrison, and after sitting for roughly 4 hours and being tired, he took the stage with confidence, elegance, and pure energy. Morris Morrison, or “Mo Mo,” started by cracking jokes about country music, and at the same time even keeping this show inspirational.

Overall, this was a great way to end our trip. After three days with your friends and fellow acquaintances, we headed home with Morris’s words in the back of our minds.
