NUHS boy’s basketball gets another win

New Ulm Eagles play Blue Earth on Friday night.

The New Ulm Eagles boy’s basketball team played Blue Earth Friday, Feb. 10. At the beginning of the game, it was a little crazy. The Eagles were losing in the first couple of minutes and then showed whose house Blue Earth was in.

The Eagles always know how to make an entrance. As the Eagles were coming into the gym to get another amazing win, the team hit the backboard until they got to Nathan Firle, who dunked with a flourish.

During the Eagle’s starting lineup announcement, the student section was really hyped cheering on Number 45, Nathan Firle. Firle is a 6-foot-9 Junior on the Varsity Basketball team. Firle was starting the game as the middleman and the Eagles got the ball first which made the fans so much more hyped.

The Eagles scored 96 points by the end of the game. At 3 minutes left the fans were so intrigued because the JV team came onto the court and played the rest of the game. The Eagles were so close to getting to 100 points and fans kept yelling “Stop running the clock,” just to try to reach the 100 mark.

Jayda Johnson, a cheerleader at New Ulm High School, was in the student section hyping up the players. “I come to almost all the home games and it’s the best place to come on Fridays. I love being in the student section and cheering on my basketball team,” Johnson said.
