The blinding lights shine down on the stage as students fulfill their dreams of singing, dancing, and acting in what could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The lead in your school’s play.

While this is many students’ dreams, for Josie Ringhofer, this dream has become a reality. Ringhofer, a senior at NUHS, was one of the leads for this year’s musical production of “The Addams Family,” playing Morticia alongside Nick Vigel as Gomez and many other students.

“The Addams Family has been my favorite production I’ve been a part of so far because Morticia was and has been a dream role of mine,” Ringhofer said. Ringhofer starred in her first-ever theater production in the 3rd grade playing baby’s breath in the production “Alice in Wonderland.” She has been constantly involved in the theater ever since, starring in a total of 18 productions thus far, and she claims this will not be the last time seeing her involving herself. Josie is a member of the Oak Street singers as well as promising to be a part of this year’s one-act play, and possibly student directing this year’s spring production.

“The Addams Family” was a production with a little something for everybody with a mix of dramatics, music, comedy, and passion.  “Everyone who got a lead fit their character so well it was almost scary, we had a dream cast,” Ringhofer said. The cast put over 100 hours of work into making this production possible with set design, technical issues, learning lines, and of course acting. The cast practiced almost every day for the span of the production with most of them never missing a single day of practice.

This being one of the last productions for some of this year’s seniors this year makes it an especially important time. “I loved the connections I was able to make with people in the cast and that’s going to be the hardest thing to step away from,” Ringerhofer said. The fall musical has come to an end but students, staff, and community members can look forward to seeing Josie Ringerhofer and the rest of the cast in the play this spring.
