Mechanism for mechanical prop

Robotics assist with the Addams Family Musical

Robotics assist in the production of props for Musical in November

Each year the school holds a fall musical, but unlike past years prop builders have accepted assistance from Robotics in the building of  a mechanical prop.

After the approach of robotics and CTE teacher Mr. Johnson, Ms. Cowles accepted the assistance in the manufacturing of a mechanical prop. After working on it the Robotics team pulled through. The prop features a pneumatic cylinder and is intended to shock the audience with both its speed and volume.

In an interview Ms. Cowles said that she’s hoping that all of the props not just the mechanical props “create a sense of awe for the audience.” But she did express concern for the completion of props before the musical but is confident that everything will be complete before the first showing.

So if you’re artistically inclined or simply enjoy building things, consider signing up for the stage crew in the future so that you can help build props for future plays. Contact Ms. Cowles for details. On the flip side if you enjoy mechanics, computers, or anything related to CTE, consider joining the robotics group. Contact Mr. Johnson for Details.

Finally don’t forget to go see the Musical. The show dates are November 11 and 18 at 7 p.m. and November 12 and 19 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for students and $10 for adults.
