On Sep. 16 the Intro to Trades class went to Walners pit to meet up with Bill Oftihidie to learn about mining sand. The whole class got a first-hand look at what goes on in the pit. “In the past year we hauled out about 100 tons of sand out of the pit, that’s 5,000 truckloads,” he said. (Ethan Domeier)
