Job Opportunities for NUHS Students

Are you a NUHS student looking for a job? If you are, you are not alone. Three NUHS students (Kasey Schmitz, Cody Binger, Tayler Heyer) were interested in what businesses in New Ulm would be a good first job for high school teenagers. We decided to go to 5 main businesses in New Ulm: Perkins, Oak Hills, McDonald’s,Happy Joe’s, and Holiday.

After applying for the job you will wait for a phone call or an email including if you got the job or not and when your starting day is. You can expect a moderately busy work day, steady hours depending on what you want to work, and a minimum wage.

When applying at Holiday gas station you will apply online. After applying online you will receive a phone call determining whether or not you will set up an interview. If you get the job, you will be trained in on cash register and made familiar of the objectives needed to be completed around the store by closing time.

The friendly faces of Oak Hills living center will make you feel at home. When you apply online at www.oakhillsnewulm.com, expect a call back within two weeks from the human resource worker Nichole Bleaksted. Positions of homemakers and nursing  are available, both with a starting wage high enough to satisfy and hours that will ensure you a decent check.

Perkins offers wages based on performance rather than a set limit. Management is always willing to work with you. This business offers, dish washing for ages 14 & 15, serving for ages 16 & up, cook for ages 16 & up.

While applying at Happy Joe’s you will turn in an application online. After turning in the application you will wait to receive a call from Nick. Then after you get the call  you will set up an interview and later proceed with training and orientation. Following the other steps of progress you will eventually reach starting your job on your own with the capability of being able to ask your supervisors any questions needed.
