NUHS senior Andrew Goodall is making a name for himself on the Ebay market. According to the Huffington Post, 72 percent of high school students are entrepreneurial, but only 27 percent actually plan on starting their own business. And when most students think about earning money they think of a regular job like working in retail, but Andrew is changing that.

Some may wonder what the heck does he sell to make almost double the money he made at his old job? Well, Andrew sells digital trading cards on an app for IOS and Android devices. These cards come in digital packets you can buy and Andrew does buy these packs for the sole purpose of reselling them for profit. Selling the cards is a simple process. Andrew just lists them on his account and waits for an offer from buyers who may be interested in buying or bargaining a price. After a purchase has been made, he waits for the money to come into his account and then sends the card to whoever purchased it.

I asked why he wanted to start this new job and why he would leave his old job. Andrew said, “I always wanted to be an entrepreneur so when the opportunity came I took it.” Andrew’s dad introduced him to the game and Andrew began to sell cards for fun and to make a little money on the side. Pretty soon Andrew quit his current job to sell cards full time. Andrew also likes how flexible his schedule is now compared to his old job. He can now work when he wants to and from anywhere where there is internet service. Andrew also has met a lot of new people from around the world that he may not have originally. He now makes much more money than he did at his old job, and he is having much more fun selling digital cards instead of his old job.

When asked about what he sees in the future, he plans on continuing his operation to help pay for college. Andrew would like to see this grow into a partnership with a big corporation to really make his small business grow into something bigger. When I asked about him sharing his inside knowledge he said he would share with anyone who wanted to know because “it offers a great learning experience.”

Andrew also would like more people to try not just digital cards on Ebay but other jobs online and different platforms. Andrew said most people think that they can’t do a job like that because it’s too risky or too challenging or they aren’t tech savvy enough. But, he encourages them to try it even if they just dip their toes into the water of the internet profit pool.
